You’ve Hired a Professional Cleaning Company, Now what?

Here’s what to expect when you hire a professional cleaning company to come into your home:

The Quote

The first thing you can expect from a professional cleaning company will be the quote. Every cleaning company has a different process for how they will do your quote. Some cleaning companies will only give you a quote if they come and see your house first. This is the most accurate way to do a quote, but it can be the most time consuming and inconvenient way as well. There is an added bonus with cleaning companies coming to your house to do a quote; you get to meet the people who will be cleaning your home before committing to hiring them! This can be great for people that are hiring a cleaning company for the first time. It will make you feel more relaxed and at ease when they come to do the initial cleaning.

Some companies will charge an hourly rate and only give a rough estimate of how long it will take. This way of quoting is a great option for the company as well as the homeowner because the job will be done in full and the hourly rate is agreed upon before the cleaning begins. However, if the clean takes a little longer than anticipated, you could end up paying more than you wanted to pay. You won’t know for sure what the price is before the clean is over so this can make it a little more difficult to budget.

Some companies try and streamline the quote by offering an easy online quote. This is the option that Corner to Corner Cleaning uses. We think this is the easiest option for people as it is quick, straight forward, and simple. If you would like us to come to your house and do an in-person quote, we are always willing to work with you on that as well.

The Booking

Once a price is agreed upon, a professional cleaning company will book you in for a first time clean. Keep in mind that the first clean of your home will take longer than any recurring cleans. Most cleaning companies will let you know about this ahead of time and charge extra for the first clean. The reason for this is that it can take a bit of extra time to get the house up to a standard the cleaning company will maintain afterwards. Unless you’ve been cleaning your house to a professional cleaning standard, this could add a couple of hours to the initial cleaning.

The cleaning company will need information on how to enter your home, what special requests you have and any rooms or areas you would like left out of your clean. We are often asked if you have to be home for the cleaning. You do not need to be home for the initial cleaning or any other cleaning of your home. This is pretty standard for most cleaning companies. We also get asked if you need to give us a tour of your home. This is completely up to you. It is not necessary but it can be helpful to lay out your expectations in each room of your home especially if you have lots of areas you would prefer us not to touch.

The Initial Clean

You’re probably wondering what you need to do before your first clean. It is probably best to ask your cleaning company if you need to do anything before your appointment time. Corner to Corner Cleaning does not require that you do anything to your home before we arrive. Just relax and let us take care of the rest.

Some professional cleaning companies do require that you clean before they arrive. They expect all clothing, toys, dishes, etc to be picked up and put away. While this might seem a little silly; it can save you money by making your appointment shorter. Most professional cleaning companies focus on cleaning your home and not tidying up. This is the big difference between a professional cleaning company and a maid company.

Corner to Corner Cleaning does not require you to pick up before we arrive. We do advise you to keep in mind that if you leave two weeks worth of dishes for us to do before we can clean the kitchen, this is added expense and takes away from time that can be spent doing more detailed home maintenance. If you prefer to have us scrubbing the dishes, we will be happy to do it for you!

Payment

It is best to double check with your cleaning company before hand on how they accept payments. Some companies may be unable to accept cards or may only take cash. Some companies will require a deposit before cleaning or a credit card number to keep on file. Every cleaning company is different.

If you ever have concerns about your payment make sure to contact your cleaning company. Most cleaning companies will be more than happy to explain an invoice.

Corner to Corner Cleaning will send you an invoice after the cleaning is done. Your invoice will always match your approved and signed quote unless you have been contacted beforehand. We never add any unexpected charges unless you have given us permission to do so. We do accept cards and prefer this over cash. After the Clean

Once your clean is over and you have paid, always do a walk around and make sure you’re happy with the service you’ve paid for. Most cleaning companies are happy to come back and reclean anything that has been missed or not cleaned fully. Keep in mind that these guarantees will have a timeline so it’s best to double check on the day the clean was performed.
